More than a week has passed since the current round of fighting began in the South, and many questions have reached Maran Shlita, seeking guidance on various issues. It is interesting to note that this time, unlike in the past when Maran Shlita was strict on labeling certain places a “מקום סכנה” and lenient only in Bnei Brak, this time he was more lenient on questions which involved a “דבר מצווה”, despite of them coming from places of greater danger.
The Rosh Yeshiva of a prominent Yeshiva which is situated in the South (Rishon L’tzion area) asked if they should move to a different place because the roof of the Beis Medrash is built without stone support and there is a greater risk of danger if a missile or even remnants fall. Should the Yeshiva relocate? Maran Shlita answered “שומר מצווה לא יידע דבר רע” (One who keeps the Mitzvos will not see harm) and there is no need to relocate!
He was also asked a question from a Maggid Shiur that teaches in the South, expressing his concern that, in the wake of talks of a ceasefire, the attacks would intensify, and being that he needs to use the roads to travel, he fears danger. Maran Shlita told him that traveling for the purpose of giving a Torah lesson will not cause him harm and he may travel without any fear.
Other questions that have been asked are such as the one who asked whether his wife would give birth in Bnei Brak or travel to a hospital in Netanya, a place considered safer, or the one who lives in Bnei Brak but is in another city and afraid to return to his home in Bnei Brak which it is located on the top floor with a tile roof. The common denominator was that Maran Shlita reassured the askers not to fear beyond common sense, and anything that is a Mitzvah will not cause harm!
Indeed, if the current situation can be summed up, it can be seen that בס”ד there had been almost no casualties from the missiles, and about half of the casualties which did occur were not of בני ברית. In addition, Beni Brak residents spoke in wonder about the missiles that had fallen around the city of Bnei Brak from all its borders, in Petah Tikva, Givat Shmuel and Ramat Gan, but in Beni Brak itself there were no missiles. יפול מצדך אלף ורבבה מימינך, אליך לא יגש!
