כתיבת חידושי תורה
One of the more constant advice that Maran Shlita tells Bnei Torah – is to write חידושי תורה and publish Seforim. Many times over he can be heard telling his close relatives – and even those that are not – “write a Sefer”! Sometimes as a request and sometimes as a Segulah – specifically to be זוכה for children, and we know many people that have seen miracles after they have published a Sefer at Maran Shlita’s request.
There is no way to describe the happiness of Maran Shlita after receiving a new Sefer into his hands, and it doesn’t matter which subject the Sefer covers. It is often noticeable how at the end, after dozens or more people have passed through, which also tires young people… and in comes in a person with a new Sefer that he published and gifts it to Maran, immediately a river of joy pours down his face – a “new Sefer!”, thus, calmly Maran can be seen delving at length into the new Sefer as he forgets about his weakness… This is said as an introduction to a question that Maran Shlita was asked this week.
Into the room of Maran Shlita entered a person who was close to one of the more prominent past Roshei HaYeshivos zt”l that passed away a few years ago, and asked: This Rosh Yeshiva zt”l, left unpublished חידושי תורה and also unpublished חידושי תורה of his students, and there are those who wish to publish them for the benefit of the Tzibur, but his sons are opposed to it. However, their mother is interested in publishing the חידושי תורה, what should be done? Listen to the mother, or the sons?
Maran Shlita answered firmly that his children do not have any authority over their father’s חידושי תורה or Shiurim, and especially when the widow is interested in its publishing, and the sons don’t have justified reasons, of course the חידושי תורה of the Rosh Yeshiva zt”l should be published, and it would be for his benefit Leilui Nishmoso בגנזי מרומים.
